What on Earth Is Happening with Christianity?

What it means to identify as Christian can look very different depending on where you stand.

The landscape of Christianity in Canada is shifting. Churches and denominations are changing. Patterns of belief and belonging are changing. Some people are finding new expressions of faith, while others are distancing themselves from institutions and traditions they once called home. At the same time, movements within Christianity are exerting significant influence on politics, culture, and public life.

How did we arrive here? What currents are shaping the way Christian faith is understood and expressed today? Who remains connected to the church, who has left, and what fractures have contributed to that change?

Reflector Project’s 2026 Fall Conference brings together scholars, writers, and practitioners to explore these questions—and to consider where we might go from here.

Over two days, André Gagné, Angela Reitsma Bick, David Goa, Susan Alexander, and Ken Best will help us explore the changing landscape of Christianity and what it might mean to move beyond its fractures toward a faith marked by hope, solidarity, and connection rather than separation.

What on earth is happening with Christianity? Come and be part of the conversation.
